A Single Amontillado Cask Whisky

For our Third Release, Magnus Heinason organic single malt has matured exclusively in one carefully selected Amontillado sherry cask, a wood that sits between the lighter finesse of Fino and the deeper, richer character of Oloroso.

Securing this particular Amontillado cask was a challenge, but from the moment the spirit first touched the wood, it began absorbing its subtle and complex influence.

We have watched its evolution from barrel to bottle with the same careful attention that defines all our releases — always waiting for the moment when spirit, wood and sherry harmonise perfectly. The result is not defined by intensity alone, but by balance: a single cask expression where nuance and clarity stand side by side.

Faroe Islands Finish

In keeping with our philosophy, this Third Release is brought to its ideal strength using Kirvi Volcanic Mountain Water from the Faroe Islands.

The water is introduced slowly and gently, bringing the whisky to 46 % ABV with patience and precision. This final step allows the spirit to open naturally, revealing its full character without disturbance.

Without the unique purity and mineral signature of the Kirvi water, this would not be a genuine Magnus Heinason single malt — a whisky shaped by place as much as by cask.

Tasting Notes

Nose
Sweet yet dry sherry notes rise first, balanced by fresh, ripe barley. Soft oak and subtle spice follow, hinting at the Spanish cask influence.

Palate
Well structured and harmonious. Sherry richness and malt sweetness come together with measured tannins and gentle dryness from the Spanish oak, creating depth without heaviness.

Finish
Clean and composed. Dry oak and soft tannins linger, leaving a balanced and refined impress.
